Today we set up our 'pit area'. This is an area that each team is given to decorate as they wish. Teams use it to display information about their team, their country, their project and robot and anything else they want.
It took a long time to set up our pit area. We brought a gazebo frame with us from the UK (it just about fitted in the suitcase) and had to reassemble it in our pit area. We hung lots of Union Jack bunting and stuck up posters about our project and the robotics club that we mentor.
Each team is given a table. On our table we displayed information leaflets about the team, and put out our freebie 'giveaways'. We wrote to lots of companies and some were generous enough to give us C14 freebies to give away (Thank you!) We also brought traditional British sweets with us - humbugs, fruit polos, fruit sherberts, Fox's Gacier Mints and others - to give to anyone who visited the pit.
Because there are 9 of us, and some of us are very tall, it was quite difficult to all get in our pit area at the same time! We had to take turns to be inside.
The team had lots of visitors, even as we were setting up, and started making friends with the other teams. We met up with the other British team, The Greenhill Gizmos.
